In a compelling address to Parliament today, Honourable Member of Parliament Mr. Mian Altaf highlighted the urgent need for comprehensive disaster preparedness and rapid response mechanisms to tackle natural calamities like fires, landslides, and sudden climatic changes. His intervention underlined the growing vulnerability of communities to these unforeseen disasters and the necessity for proactive measures.
Mr. Altaf expressed grave concern over the frequency and impact of such disasters, which often leave communities devastated. He called for strengthening disaster management systems to ensure timely evacuation, relief, and rehabilitation for affected individuals. “The unpredictable nature of these events demands not just reactive but proactive planning. We must prioritize safety and quick recovery to minimize loss of life and property,” he remarked.
The MP also advocated for increased budgetary allocation to disaster relief funds, better-equipped response teams, and infrastructure resilience to mitigate future risks. Addressing the government, he urged immediate support for victims, including monetary assistance and resources to rebuild livelihoods.
Highlighting the plight of disaster-stricken areas, Mr. Altaf emphasized the need for community awareness programs to prepare residents for emergencies and reduce casualties. “Our commitment must reflect in our actions, ensuring that no region is left unsupported in times of crisis,” he concluded.
