Ganderbal, January 23, 2025:As part of the nationwide “Drug Destruction Campaign Week” initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ganderbal Police undertook a large-scale disposal drive of seized drugs and psychotropic substances. The campaign is part of efforts to combat the menace of drug abuse and promote a drug-free society.
Under the guidance of SSP Ganderbal, Ragav S,the District Level Drug Disposal Committee organized the destruction of contraband substances seized in 14 cases registered across the district. Following necessary permissions from the competent court, the contraband was destroyed using the incineration method at Kashmir Health Care System, IGC Lassipora. The substances had an estimated cumulative value of ₹15.85 lakh.
The disposal process was supervised by Dy.SP DAR Ganderbal and conducted in the presence of a magistrate, ensuring transparency and adherence to proper legal procedures.
This mass destruction marks a significant milestone in Ganderbal Police’s continuous efforts to tackle the growing issue of drug abuse. Officials emphasized that such steps reinforce the district’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace and protecting the community, particularly the youth, from its harmful effects.
As per local the Ganderbal Police reiterated their dedication to maintaining a safer and healthier environment for citizens and assured the public that their fight against drug abuse will remain unwavering. The drive aligns with their mission to create a society free from the clutches of illegal substances.
